Resiliency

After the shock and awe

Of total disrepair,
Reality sets in
As desperation lingers in the air.
A tsunami knocks
At the door without warning,
Yesterday was just like anyday
But tomorrow filled with mourning.
How do you prepare yourself
For sudden life changing events,
Find solace in your loved ones
They are your soul's cement.
If you are stressed and cannot cope
And are burning at both ends,
Look for peace and comfort
Find ways to make amends.
Life is so unfair
And doesn't prepare us for grief,
Turn the negative into a positive
Seek comfort from relief.
Its up to us to turn our world
Into something better than it was,
To become steadfast in our efforts
To return to normalcy as it was.
Adversity is life's certainty
Like a fire, it will come and go,
So be prepared for the inevitable
Plant your seeds that you can sow.
It will take alot of time
For your heart to recover,
Give yourself a shot of faith
Focus on your strengths, not the other.
Those of us not affected
Should not watch and standby,
Reach into your hearts and pockets
Give them the wings so they can fly.
A little hug touches the soul,
It sends shivers up the spine
It doesnt take much to ask
If someone is doing fine.
The angels will come
They are resilient in adversity,
Giving their time when in need
They offer help in all diversities.
Its hard to replace
To recover from what is lost,
Search through your memories
Disregarding all the costs.
The winds of war
Come roaring in a fury,
They will turn our lives upside down
Leaving us torn, weak, and drury.
Let it ignite
The importance of what is true,
Family cannot be replaced
Everything else can be renewed.
This too shall pass
